Who we are
T1Days is run by Cara and Jamie in Dublin, Ireland. We’re responsible for the personal details described here. To ask anything about your details, or to use any of the rights below, send us a message through the “Talk to us” form on our home page and we’ll reply ourselves.
What we collect, and why
When you contact us. Your name if you give it, your email address, and what you write. We use them only to reply to you and arrange a call. We rely on your consent, which you give with the tick box. We keep them for up to twelve months after we last hear from you, unless you become a client or ask us to delete them sooner.
If you work with us. The answers you give on our onboarding form: contact details, and what you choose to share about your type 1 diabetes, which is health information. We use them to plan and run our sessions with you. We rely on your explicit consent, which you can withdraw at any time. We keep them while we work together and for no longer than two years after, unless the law requires longer or you ask us to delete them sooner.
If you use the T1Days app with us. Your glucose, insulin and meal records and meal photos, shared with us only when you choose to share them from the app. You can stop sharing, download everything or delete everything from within the app at any time.
We never sell your details, never use them for advertising, and never share them with anyone else unless you ask us to, for example with your diabetes team, and only what you agree to.
The T1Days app
The app keeps a record of your meals and how your glucose responded, so you can see your own patterns. It works on your explicit consent, and you can export or delete everything from Settings at any time.
- Your account. Sign in with Apple, or your email address for a sign-in link.
- Your records. Glucose, insulin and pump records read (never changed) from your own diabetes data service, the meals you save, their photos with the location removed, and any notes and check-ins you add. They’re kept in your account until you delete them.
- Apple Health. Only what you allow, read-only: steps and exercise, sleep, heart rate and heart rate variability, State of Mind, and cycle tracking only if you turn it on. These are copied to your account to sit beside your glucose.
- Reading meal photos. Only if you say yes (and you can change your mind in Settings › Reading photos): each meal photo and its note go to Claude, an AI model made by Anthropic, which names the foods and portions. Anthropic processes them in the United States under its data processing terms and doesn’t use them to train its models. Say no and Claude never sees your photos.
- Weather. Your approximate location, rounded to about 10 km, or the town you pick, goes to Open-Meteo to look up the temperature. Nothing else is sent with it.
- Packet barcodes. The barcode number alone goes to Open Food Facts to find the label.
- Notifications. If you allow them, your phone’s Apple notification address is kept so reminders and shared alerts can reach it.
Nothing in the app is used for advertising or tracking, and nothing is shared with us unless you choose to share it.
Where it’s kept
- Messages from the contact form and onboarding answers: with Cloudflare, our website host, in its Western Europe region.
- T1Days app records: with Supabase, in Ireland.
- Meal photos you allow to be read: sent to Anthropic in the United States for the reading only.
Only Cara and Jamie can read them, through a private, PIN-protected part of the site.
Cookies
This site uses no advertising or tracking cookies. Our private practice area uses one sign-in cookie, for Cara and Jamie only. The site’s fonts are served from our own site, so loading a page sends nothing to Google or any other font service.
Your rights
You can ask to see the details we hold about you, correct them, delete them, take a copy with you, or limit how we use them. You can withdraw your consent at any time; that doesn’t affect anything we did before you withdrew it. If you’re unhappy with how we’ve handled your details, you can complain to the Data Protection Commission at dataprotection.ie.
Not medical advice
T1Days offers education, reflection and emotional support for people living with type 1 diabetes. We don’t give medical advice, insulin doses or device settings, and we don’t replace your diabetes team. In an emergency, call 112 or 999.
